In Pierce County, public transportation faces an uncertain future. Despite efforts to control costs, Pierce Transit was forced to reduce bus service 5 percent in July 2009. And while everyone hopes the economy will rebound soon, we must be prepared for whatever the future may bring.
Timeline for the Planning Process:
- September 2009 - November 2009: Community involvement in conceptual plans design and data gathering
- December 2009 - February 2010: Data analysis and conceptual plans drafted
- March 2010 - April 2010: Community comments on plans
- June 14, 2010: Board of Commissioners hosts public hearing
- July 2010: Board of Commissioners adopts preferred plan
